These appointments form part of our fundamental commitment to customers and patients. The decontamination of medical devices is a critical service in the delivery of patient care. The post holders will be part of a multidisciplinary team which is responsible for the preparation, quality assurance, sterilisation and distribution of surgical instruments to operating theatres. The successful candidates duties will include Collection, Disassembly, Washing, Inspection, Packing and Sterilisation of contaminated medical devices, whilst critically, complying with all legislative documentation and instructions.

Candidates should have proven experience in a sterile services environment and in possession of or working towards qualification in Decontamination. Candidates should have basic computer literacy skills along with proven team working and communication skills.

Sterile Services Operational Manager

Details of position: Croydon Health Services is a newly formed integrated care organisation created on 1st October 2010 providing hospital and community services from a number of locations throughout Croydon.

The Trust comprises the former Croydon Community Health Services and Mayday Healthcare NHS Trust. Around 3,500 staff provide services for a population of over 340,000 people from diverse community groups.

Following a review of services the Trust has decided to appoint an Operational Manager for the Sterile Services Department.

Your main responsibility will be to manage the activities of the Decontamination team. You will be required to implement safe systems complying with statutory and regulatory requirements supporting innovation for Croydon Health Services NHS Trust sites.

You will possess a Degree in Management or equivalent and have extensive experience; you will also need to be a Full Member of the Institute of Decontamination Sciences (IDSc). Knowledge in the application of a wide range of instruments including flexible endoscopes is essential.

You will become an active member of the team working to promote good working practice, minimise downtime and assist in improving standards of medical device management. You will be capable of interacting with staff at all levels on a day to day basis and will need to possess excellent communication skills

Evidence of good practical skills, a sound knowledge and an understanding of Decontamination is a prerequisite of the post and you will be expected to demonstrate this at interview.

The successful applicant will have some direct contact with health professionals and visitors, so a good standard of written and spoken English, communication and customer care skills are essential.

Applicants should have an adaptable, flexible approach to work and be able to demonstrate they can work very well within a team as well as being able to use their own initiative.
Salary: £34,811 - £44,508 per annum inc HCAS
